Are you wondering how much this blog of mine here is worth? It's worth a measly $54. That is good bye to dreams of selling this site and owning a house in Moonlight Bay and a GTR in the garage.

I apologise for lacking pictures in my recent posts. I left my cable(the one that connects my hp to the laptop) in Kampar, and I left my mind there as well. Hmmm.. Time for another brain reformat..

Makkal Sakti?

This just came in through the mail from Rachel. Read.

"THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' PETROL FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET PETROL BACK DOWN TO RM1.92 PER Litre....

This was originally sent by Phillip Hollsworth, a retired Coca Cola executive. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this winter, take time to read this, PLEASE.

Phillip offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May! It is worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! We are going to hit RM 2.70 a litre and it might go higher!! Want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

The oil companies just laughed at last year's action because they knew we would not continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now, you're probably thinking petrol priced at about $1.50 is cheap. It is currently RM2.70 for regular unleaded. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a liter of gas is CHEAP at $1.50, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their petrol! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying petrol. But we CAN have an impact on petrol prices if we all act together to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from Petronas the biggest price-up driver company. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Petronas petrol buyers. It's SO simple! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions and even BILLIONS of people!!

I am sending this note to 20 people. If each of you sends it on to at least twenty more that's (20 x 20 = 400) .. And those 400 send it to at least twenty more (400 x 20 = 8000 ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the fifth group of people, we will have reached over SIXTY FOUR MILLION consumers!!!!!

20x20 = 400
400x20 = 8,000
8,000x20 = 160,000
160,000x20 = 3,200,000
3,200,000x20 = 64,000,000
64,000,000x20 = 12,800,000,000

That's 12.80 Billion people folks, who will have been contacted!!!!! Unbelievable?? Do the math and see for yourself! Again, all you have to do is send this to 20 people. That's all! I'll bet you didn't think we had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.. If this message makes sense to you, then please pass it on.

THEY will LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW THE RM1.92 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK. It's simple - send the message along to others and choose to not buy petrol from Petronas. TWENTY FIVE POINT SIX BILLION people: Now THAT's people power. LET'S JUST DO IT ! ! !
More power to you friend."

A boycott to reduce petrol prices? That's absurd don't you think? How can petrol prices go down if the market price per barrel is going up? Do you guys know that Petronas was actually paying for your petrol? They were paying for the subsidy we enjoyed for so long. I can't remember the numbers but it was actually quite a substancial amount the Government took from Petronas to subsidise our fuel. How can we do this to Petronas? It will eventually force them to close shop! And why Petronas? Why not Shell? Mobil? Esso? BHP? Perhaps this Philip has something against Petronas..

UNI-fied Life..

It's been a long time since I came in here. It's almost two weeks already right? Yes I promised to upload some quirky pictures in here right? Sorry I can't do it today because the cable that is supposed to connect my hand phone to the computer is lying idle at home. So is my hand phone, lying comfortably at home on the desk while it's been fed with electricity. By the way, I'm currently sitting in a cybercafe called SKY in Kampar New Town.

Alright. How's life there compared to the life back in Penang? Actually, they are almost the same.

Food is priced almost the same as in Penang (Maybe a lil expensive if you choose to dine in the Cafes here). There's two mamak stalls here, MM (Forgotten what the double M stands for already) and Ghany Corner. Both mamak have the worst service I have ever seen. The waiters in Ghany refuse to serve you and you have to wait quite some time before they take notice of you. On the other hand, waiting time in MM is not that long but they have an idiotic waiter working for them. He serves you with a blur look, ok nevermind that. Imagine this situation, it actually happened.

Me : Abang bagi ayam satu.
*Waiter kepits the ayam from the tray with his bare hands*
*Chuck it in a small transparent plastic bag and hands it to me*
Me : Saya mau panas mya.
*Waiter takes the plastic bag with the ayam from me*
*Waiter pops the plastic bag with the ayam in it in the microwave*
*Waiter starts the microwave*
*Passes it back to me when it's done*
I inspected the plastic bag and guess what I see?
There's pieces of chicken sticking to the plastic bag. WTF?

So the conclusion is, both mamak sucks. Personally I prefer MM, I love the Roti Hawaii (Imagine chicken chunks and pineapple chunks doused in cheese wrapped in a roti canai skin, it's delicious!) there. What choice do I have? Only two mamaks area available there. The chinese food here are ok, although recently they have just increased their price because of the sudden hike in petrol prices.

Entertainment you say? Well, we lead a very healthy life here in Kampar. At least most of us. We cycled to uni in the morning. Cycled back in the evenings. Walked out from Westlakes to Kampar New Town for dinner. Play badminton in the middle of the road or in our back alley when we're bored. Walk from block to block in between classes. Hmm.. I think that is all I can think of right now. Owh, campus is not that far from where I'm staying. Think around 1 - 2 KM. Neither is Kampar New Town. It's around the distance from my place to campus.

I heard someone asking me about lectures and classes. Ermmmm... Some lecturers are good. They do sound professional, they know what they are talking about and when to pause and when to skip. I say 'some', not all. Sure you do have your bunch of lousy lecturers here too. Yes they do their job by teaching, but to understand them is another matter to them. They just don't care. Is this uni life?

Classes usually start in the morning and end in the evening for me. They can start as early as 8am and they usually end at 6pm in the evening. This goes on for everyday except for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Friday, I'll be having a Maths tutorial from 8 to 9 in the morning and that's it for me. That would mean laundry would pile up at the end of the week. I hate washing a ton of laundry. Hmmmm...

Assignments are already given out. Peoples are already assigned to groups. Looks like I have the same people for all my subjects except for one. I'm supposed to find materials on Suffixes and Prefixes for English, an annual report on a public listed company with the letter from KLSE for Accounts, Laptop vs Desktop for Computer Studies and I can't remember what I should find for Economics. I have another two subjects if y0u are asking how many do I have. Maths (No group assignments yet) and Public Speaking (There will be a group presentation but no title is announced yet). So in total I have 6 subjects. 6 subjects to conquer and score!

People from the back, are you asking about friends? Yea sure I have met many friendly people here, no enemies yet (Which I hope I won't make any). The rumours you heard are true. Most of them are chinese educated. So what? Does that make them lower than thou? No. They are the same although some of them may not be fluent in English. Hey, at least they are trying! Sometimes I do have problems talking with them, I have to burden them by translating it into English for me. It seems that I have to play catch-up. I'm learning! I'm learning!

Adios I bid to my faithful readers for now. I shall be back. This I can promise you. Rest well and take care.
