Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief

I was actually looking forward to the move after watching the trailer on Youtube. The feeling where you go 'Woah.... Canggih.. Gaya.. Gotta watch it when it comes out' all to yourself. So was supposed to go and watch it with the Khatrine Lim and the Eric Poh and the-why-u-so-sayang-me-so-much-wan when the Khatrine Lim comes to Penang. When she arrived in Penang, the Eric Poh suddenly wasn't interested in watching it. So the Khatrine Lim had to give us the aeroplane (ppk or pang puih kee). So.. watched it my the why-u-so-sayang-me-so-much-wan and my bro who is watching it for the second time.

Ok let's get to the review already. Greek Gods treat us human beings like toys and come down to earth and play with us once in a while. Yeah you might bump into one without knowing it. Sometimes when they are feeling generous, they will bless us with fertile lands and a good yield during harvest. When they are feeling angry with us or at each other, that's it for us, thunders roar, lightnings strike, volcanos erupt, the earth splits apart.. And a number of them even mate with us, mortals and these matings eventually lead to a creature half-god, half-human which are called demi-gods or half-bloods. That's the whole Greek mythology for you and it's the core of the movie.

What actually happened in the movie was Zeus's (The big-papa King of the Gods) lightning bolt (one of the most powerful weapon ever created according to the movie)was stolen. He accuses his brother, Poseidon (God of the sea) of stealing it. Poseidon of course denies it. Zeus threatens Poseidon with war if the bolt is not returned in 7 days (Is it 7? Can't really remember). *All these happened in the 21st century and the meeting between Zeus and Poseidon took place on top of the Empire State Building.*

Percy Jackson, a high school going teen happens to be a demi-god, and not just a product of any Greek God, he is the son of Poseidon, one of the three big brothers of Greek Gods. His normal high school going teenager life was disrupted when mythological monsters from ancient Greek comes to life and hunts him down for they believe he stole the lightning bolt for Poseidon. Percy and two of his best friends goes on a journey to find the main culprit behind the stolen bolt which would take them to places which would only exist in stories of Homer (Not the Simpson kind, the epic Greek poet).

To me, the movie is just another High School Musical. Never liked it. I find the whole plot too childish. Maybe I'm getting too old for movies like these.... It's just another average movie, with pretty visual effects. I'm guessing they left out a lot of part from the book? Haven't read the book, is it good?
